This week’s small group reading is about Love. I leave it to you and your small group leaders to explore this subject in detail, but in the spirit of democratic participation, please read this paper.

In a time of cynicism, one often wonders whether a single vote really makes any difference. Regardless of which candidate you favor, the authors argue that voting only makes sense if you care about others and not just yourself (particularly in large elections). For those of us that live in states where the outcome is certain, it is then just as rational to volunteer to make phone calls into swing states.
