Update: NH4J Readings

February 22, 2010

NH4J (NewHope4Justice) continues to journey through the book “Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger,” Scripture passages in Isaiah and Amos, and other special readings which Kim F. selects for us.  Our discussions have been really interesting & prayer-provoking, and our group has been increasingly encouraged by the Spirit of the Lord to think, seek and move with the rhythms of His heart . . .

As always, everyone is welcome to drop in at any time to eat and chat with us.  Please feel free to contact Kim F. for more information about our book and further readings.  Come join us for our next meeting:

  • This Thursday, February 25th, 7.00p @ Catherine C.’s home
  • Topic: “Property & Possessions: Homelessness, Home Loss & The Financial Crisis”
  • ReadingsRich Christians…, Chapter 5 & 6; Isaiah 6; Amos 6
  • Further Readings: please contact Kim F. for additional PDFs & summaries

Thanks, from I-10!

February 17, 2010

As of 4.56p today, “THE CHICKENS ARE IN THE COOP.”

For those of you not as well-versed in fake-spy-language as Robert & Catherine, that means: “THE INDIA VISAS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED!”

7 passports & 7 stamped visas are now back in familiar hands, and resting comfortably at Catherine’s until they go to their respective homes on Sunday evening.  Particular thanks to Robert, whose patience, calm & clear communication were absolutely essential to the smooth processing of our team’s paperwork.

Thank you, dear family members, for praying for our team, and consistently & faithfully seeking God’s favor upon our visa-applications.  We do continue to rely upon your petitions & intercessions on our behalf, as we continue to train, and then as we travel.

Uber-Intense Prayer For I-10

February 16, 2010

We’re almost afraid to say it out-loud, because it seems too good to be true . . . but I-10’s visa applications packages are — wait for it — complete!

At about 1.45p Tuesday, Robert N. will be dropping off seven sets of visa applications & supporting paperwork in NYC, for submission to the Consulate for approval.  The prayed-for plan comes full circle when Catherine heads back into the city on Wednesday late-afternoon to pick up the approved visas, stamped inside team-members’ passports.

Rich Hodge’s visit

February 15, 2010

Hi everyone!

Our good friend Rich Hodge is back in town for a bit.  For those who are not on his e-mail list but want to get in touch with him below is his itinerary…..

Greetings from a very hot SA!
I see that for many in the states the weather has brought unbelievable amounts of snow and cold… it will be quite an  adjustment for me when I hit the ground in NYC this Thursday:)

I will be visiting 3 places on this trip. Although we won’t be able to visit every place our hope is that if I can’t get to your city you’ll be praying and asking the Lord what He might have you do to invest in His dream through us. If I’m near your area please come and invite any friends who you know have a heart for missions, pastors, Africa, orphans and vulnerable children, justice, or HIV/AIDS care ministry. In each area I’m visiting there is room to meet with people and anyone who wants to host a night just let me know and I will add that to my itinerary right away.

We are thankful for a new year in which to continue to come together to worship our God.  In light of events around the world — in Iran, Haiti, North Korea, etc. — we are especially thankful to have the facilities in which to gather together, in freedom and safety.  Let’s worship throughout 2010 with hearts that overflow with love, power, grace, gratitude.

As always, feel free to ask any member of the Worship Team for lyrics, recordings and other worship-music resources . . .
