Praying For Peace, Please

January 5, 2009

The news about the ongoing war in Gaza is unavoidable.  I feel an added sense of the tragic, knowing that this is the land where my Lord lived and died in order to give the world hope, peace and a life everlasting in glory with the Father.  In these days — when we are too far away, too powerless, too lacking in knowledge to “do” anything — would you please join me in doing the following, as we declare ourselves to be lovers and followers of Christ, who is ever-near, ever-strong and ever-wise …

Giving Praise and Thanks

November 26, 2008

Recently, I heard Dr. Brian Widbin, a professor at Alliance Theological Seminary, talk about Thanksgiving and giving thanks during a chapel service.  A respected Old Testament and Hebrew scholar, he described that there was no Hebrew word in ancient Israel for “thanks” or “thank you.”  In fact, the concept of “thank you” didn’t even exist back then, especially as addressed to the LORD, and he half-jokingly lamented the watered-down and ill-motivated “thank you” that now exists in Israel (and everywhere else around the world).   Read the rest of this entry »

Update: Linda’s Dad

October 27, 2008

Hi everyone,

Linda’s dad is still in the hospital.  His health may have gotten worse over the past 24 hours as he is currently in the intensive care unit.  At this point, we are mostly concerned with keeping him comfortable.

The family and Linda are handling the situation about as well as possible.  The support given by everyone is greatly appreciated.  Thank you all for your prayers.

With faith in Christ,

Peter Yoon
