This coming Sunday, February 8, at 2.30p in the Upstairs Auditorium, we will hold the year’s first special Children’s Service for our youngsters (toddlers – elementary grades).  In conjunction with the M/O Team, the Children’s Formation Ministry Team is putting together a worship service focusing on “The Kingdom of Christ.”  Jubilee will present some new songs, and there will be times of praise, arts & crafts, and a short teaching.  As a closing activity, the children will make Valentine’s cards to send to their friends at New Hope Church in Kremenchuk, UA.

February 8th also marks the kick-off of the Youth Group’s food/supply drive to support Hillside Food Outreach.  The following items are welcome, and may be given to any member of our Youth Group throughout the Sundays in February.  (Contact Tim K. for more information.):

  • non-perishable canned or boxed foods
  • baby supplies (diapers, baby food, baby cereal, bottles, baby shampoo, baby lotion, baby bath supplies, diaper rash ointments, etc.)
  • personal hygiene items (shampoo, hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, tissues, deodorant, etc.)

The Hillside Food Outreach’s orientation session will be held at 10 AM, Sat., 12/20, and will last 45 min to an hour. It is required for those who would like to volunteer starting in January. HFO matches each volunteer with a needy person who is elderly, poor, disabled, ill, or unable to visit a food pantry. Each volunteer visits the needy person in his/her home and brings groceries on a regular, ongoing basis one Saturday a month. HFO provides the bags of groceries, which volunteers pick up at the HFO warehouse in Thornwood. Read the rest of this entry »
