U12 Update on July 18

July 18, 2012

Below is an email from Jacques on behalf of the team:
We introduced the kids (and adult leaders) to Ultimate Frisbee today. In our debriefing tonight many of us said that a major highlight of the day was witnessing that ‘ah-ha’ moment when the kids ‘got’ the game and they really started playing.
Rachel remarked how cool it is to know that once we leave they might continue to play the game, and perhaps even introduce it to others.
We pray that we also have this effect when it comes to reaching their heart for God.
My team leader asked me to share my testimony to our group tomorrow. So I am praying about that.
We have a big day as far as crafts tomorrow. We’re in charge of the craft time and we want it to be as organized as possible, but also fun for the kids. A lot of logistics.
Tonight we had some great fellowship with other members of the church after the camp. Personally I was thankful to spend some time with Patty and Greg (the Canadian missionaries) and ask them some questions about their journey, and how the Gospel is spreading and being hinder here. They say alcoholism is huge  addiction here, but praise God that recently there have been Christians rehab centers that have open up. This is really great news since the traditional rehab center here is a 30 day lock up, a pack of pills, and a “good luck”. Which basically never works and the person ends up falling into the same darkness all over again.  This was definitely an interesting conversation.
Lastly we are praying for Sasha and Luda (our interpreters) as they battle the symptoms of colds, and possible voice loss. After all, if they have no voice, we have no voice! HA!
“I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” ~Psalm 16:8
