Swiftly from 0-1 to 0-2 to 0-3

Boo Hoo

What may have been the worst call EVER (if not EVER then definitely in NHF Softball history), G.M. John H. ok’ed the decision to play another game against Living Hope Church of Old Tappan, NJ right after a heart-breaking 10-8 loss at the home field of Sleepy Hollow H.S. this past Saturday afternoon. NHF was defeated 21-13 in the second game. The once-roaring crowd of NHF cheerleaders was dead silent and stunned. On a positive note, the losses were close games and came against the #1-ranked team in the PFM league.

The negative results didn’t seem to bother them all that much and it definitely did not keep NHF quiet. nhfnews correspondent DK came into a near-injury collision with a group of the Softballers exclaiming “Persecuted yet not abandoned. Persecuted yet not abandoned. Persecuted yet not abandoned. ” Pitcher Kyu H. and the slick sliding 3rd-base pair of Chris S. and Will L. held their heads high and spoke of the “fun that it’s been thus far.”

When viewed under the microscope, a person can focus on the strike outs, pop-flys, and erroneous throws resulting in the defeats, but that’s just not NHF’s style. They’re quick to recover and even quicker to forget (team is comprised of men, for now). And so it remains nhfnews’ prediction that NHF Softball will sweep the rest of the season and playoffs by way of some more “completely horizontal diving catches by Elder Chae A. and son James ,” the steady play of hard-working Peter Y. and Jimmy A., and the quick recovery of last year’s MVP Tom Y. at shortstop.  If so, they would take the Championship trophy back to their home state of New York.

In closing, G.M. John H. is satisfied with the gelling of the team and continues to praise “the team’s composure and compassion throughout the heavy defeats.”

We love NHF Softball and we are eminently proud of the team’s composure and compassion. There will be more cheerleaders next time, we promise.
