Birth of a Ministry: “noreSERVations”

April 27, 2009

“New Hope Fellowship exists to behold and broadcast the majesty and mercy of God in the entirety of our lives, individual and corporate, unto the coming Kingdom of Christ.”

noreSERVations exists to support the greater mission of New Hope Fellowship.  The group was initially conceptualized as a singles’ or young adults ministry.  But when we went back to focus on the purpose of this ministry, we realized that it would be more exciting to include anyone and everyone.  Therefore, noreSERVations includes both members & non-members; both older & younger; both male & female; both married & single; and households with kids & without.  The name noreSERVations with S-E-R-V in capital letters represents a service-oriented group which takes action without hesitation or reservation.

Our group will meet twice a month (on the weekend) and its purpose is to serve as a social segue to newcomers who are hesitant to commit to a care group.  The impetus for this group was a desire to provide a Godly social setting in which newcomers can explore New Hope with the ultimate goal of joining a care group and incorporating into the larger Body.  We encourage New Hope Fellowship members to bring friends who may be new to our local church (or any church).

noreSERVations’ get-togethers will include potlucks and cooking classes, films and musicals, museums and parks, trips away and even staying at home… to babysit for church members.

Our kick-off event will take place this Saturday, May 2nd, at 6pm in White Plains.  Our very own Soyeun and SharonL will teach a Thai cooking class, we’ll have dinner together and watch “Slumdog Millionaire,” followed by meaningful discussion.  Chidlren are more than welcome; there’s a swimming pool with lifeguards who will tend to them.

Please RSVP to Will, at will.lee “at” nhf-online.org, or John, at john.hahn”at” nhf-online.org.  Directions will be provided at that time.
