Seeking God in Hard Times

December 14, 2008

Here’s an interesting article from the New York Times, about church attendance swelling during these last several months of economic / financial hardship.

Appropriately or not, I’ve heard this season called “The Economic 9/11.”  And, just as in the fall of 2001, Evangelical Christian churches (and other religious buildings) are packed with people seeking … something.

Let’s join this seeking and these prayers of our fellow citizens, asking God to provide for those in need and grant His all-surpassing peace to those in turmoil.  More importantly, let’s ask our Father to answer these prayers – whether they be lifted in faith or in desperation, or some wonderful combination of the two – with HIS Truth, the manifest presence of HIS Spirit, and the reality of the joy of HIS salvation provided through His Son, Jesus Christ.
